Xinlu Wang
Visiting PhD Researcher

Xinlu Wang is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University and a guest researcher affliated with ASCA at the University of Amsterdam. Her research interests include the platformation of cross-border business, popular culture and
creative labor, and critical algorithm studies.

Her doctoral dissertation focus the infresturalization of e-commerce platform and multimedia practices of small-scale transnation traders in China. This work builds on her Master’s research on digital skill and entreprenur labor of e-commerece livestreamers in Douyin.

During her PhD, she also participated research project on aging celebrities in China and the evolution of technology in the game industy. Xinlu holds a Master’ s degree from the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She also participated in some document project like A Terrible Beauty(2024) and The Story of Chuaner (2021).
