Pilot field visit to post-pandemic China - Stop three: I Guangzhou China Fabrics & Accessories Center (广州国际轻纺城) located in Zhongda Cloth Market Guangzhou (中大布匹市场), one of the largest clothing and textile wholesale markets in China.

Supported by the Guangzhou municipal and district governments and relevant resource departments, GWTCC has reopened only recently. Manufacturers, wholesalers and merchandisers from all around China come to this huge area - nearly 300,000 square meters in total - for selling and sourcing a myriad of fabrics, textiles and accessories. Demand for related logistic, e-commerce and wholesale/retail workers is on the rise. The fashion materials and merchandises offered here contest the taken-for-granted notions of authenticity, intellectual property rights and creativity.
